My MR2 - August, 2006
In the summer of 2004, July to be exact, I bought an MR2 MKII (W20) from a nice lady that had only managed to drive the car about 119,000 km. Everything about the car was just great! Original condition without any mods - a great place to start if you want to let your own style come into play.
The car was and is a "fair weather" car. I drive between the 1st of April and the 31st of October. The car has never seen salt and has never seen rust.
The name MR2 is said to stand for Mid Engined Rear wheel driven 2 seater. Most MR2 owners refer to it as his/her "Mr. 2" or just "Mr."... The car is a fuel injected 2.0 liter engine with 156 HP (drive train attached) and has a top speed of about 225/KMH - i guess that's about 140/MPH. And ya know what's cool? It's legal to drive it that fast over here!!! God, I love Germany

Here's what my Mister looked like when I bought it:

And here's what my "Mister" looks like after moving to 17" wheels.... thinking about 18" now ;-))

Hmmm, needs to be lowered a bit - and the stance could use some widening. Looks like this project has just begun!
;-)
Thursday, August 10th:
€470 - Timing Belt and diverse gaskets replaced. Had an oil leak. Everything could be changed without taking the motor out. I was soooo happy -saved me about €200. Then I got the bad news. Two days later I still have an oil leak - not as bad as before, but still there! I took it back to the mechanic to find out that I'm losing oil at the oil pump. What does that mean?!!! Engine has to come out.... Man I'm steamed. €300 just for the labor. Don't know if it's just the gasket or if I'll need to replace the oil pump. Some days you just can't get ahead...
The good news is I haven't lost any power. As long as I keep after the fill level of the oil she's still alot of fun to drive ;-)
Maybe it's not as bad as I think. When I'm done I've basically got on overhauled motor
Friday, August 11th:
Had to put new rubber on the wheels:
· Front axel Hankook VENTUS SPORT K104 205/40 ZR17
· Rear axel Hankook VENTUS SPORT K104 215/40 ZR17
Cost? €183 front axel; € 200 rear axel...
I also ordered crystal clear blinkers for the front and stainless steel door sills with the MR2 logo - that set me back another €134....
Got some good news: One of my most favorite persons declared themselves "MR2 Sponsor"!!! Looks like I'll get the motor finished this season!!!
Monday, August 21st:
The clear glass blinkers from ModWorld finally came - Osama didn't get them after all
Here's a couple of pics - just lights - no car yet

That's all for a while - I've got to pay a bit more attention to work the next days....
